Are Craig Wright’s claims true? Is he the inventor of Bitcoin?

In the last couple of years, one of most controversial mysteries of the financial world was a man known by the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto, the person responsible with the creation of Bitcoin.

Ever since Bitcoin began catching wings and developing as a means of sending money to people from all around the world, its creator supposedly vanished. Since that happened, numerous members of the community have been trying their best to elucidate the mystery behind Bitcoin’s creator. So far, the blame has been put on several persons, but none seemed to fit all the requirements, therefore no one has been officially confirmed as Satoshi Nakamoto. Until now.

According to recent reports, a man who was previously suspected of having created bitcoin, decided to unveil himself as Satoshi. Craig Wright, a computer scientist from Australia released a blogpost, stating that he is in fact the creator of Bitcoin, while also offering some forms of proof for his claim.

However, the Bitcoin community decided to remain sceptical, especially considering the fact that Satoshi stayed silent for so long, and there’s little reason why he would decide to reveal his identity now. Speculations got a little stronger when Gavin Andersen, one of the most prominent figures in the bitcoin community released a post stating that he believes Wright’s claims, and that he has seen sufficient proof to state that the Australian computer scientist is indeed Satoshi Nakamoto.

Currently, there are numerous people doubting Wright’s claim. One example is Patrick McKenzie, a developer who pointed out that the signature Wright used as proof was actually delivered from another block of text, when compared to the message that it was supposed to sign. Additionally, Gavin Andersen may have also signed off some dubious identification forms, which opens up the possibility of him being hacked. In fact, the suspicions surrounding this claim were that serious, that Bitcoin Core decided to suspend Andersen’s access to the project.

In a recent press statement, Gavin Andersen said that: “He signed, in my presence, using the private key from block one—block number one, the very first mined Bitcoin block, on a computer I’m convinced had not been tampered with, on software that I’m convinced had not been tampered with, a message of my choosing. And so that kind of sealed the deal for me, convincing me that he does have that private key. My interactions with him feel like this is the inventor of Bitcoin. I remind everyone, he is human. I’m sure he makes mistakes like we all do. He’s made some mistakes in the past. And he wants his privacy. So I’m going to draw a line. If you ask me questions about this, I draw the line at: I will explain why I’m convinced. I will not go into personal details of the discussion that I had with him.”

Based on everything that has been outlined so far, what do you personally think about Craig Wright’s claim? Is he in fact Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin? If yes, then we definitely expect some solutions to the issues Bitcoin has been dealing with lately. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
